This map shows all 214 of the Wainwright Fells in the Lake District very clearly on a high quality topographical base map.

A perfect present as it will especially appeal to those walkers who are aiming to climb all the Wainwright Fells and want a clear, user-friendly aid to plan their trips and to mark off the fells as they do them.

The map has been carefully designed to show essential detail as clearly as possible, whilst leaving off the things of less relevance (including footpaths) that would otherwise clutter the map.  The result is a map of the Lake District that is one of the clearest, most legible and elegant maps available today.
The base map is a detailed topographical map (based on O.S. geodata) that shows – towns, villages, roads, railways, stations, ferry crossings, youth hostels, campsites, rivers, lakes and mountains.  Topographical relief is shown by graduated colour layers with a 50m contour interval.

Each Wainwright summit is clearly labeled with the fell name alongside it together with a small circle so that you can mark off a peak when you have done it.  Popular starting and parking places are shown with a small blue dot to further aid planning routes.  Place and fell names are easily legible.

The map is printed on high quality paper. The flat edition (supplied rolled) is ideal for wall display and framing and is laminated on the front only.

On the reverse of the map are tables and lists of the 214 Fells, with their heights with a wide column so the user can record the date climbed and personal notes. There is also information on recommended books, web sites, etc.

“A clear, informative & inspirational map.  The perfect partner for bagging the Wainwright fells”. Leo Houlding.

“This is one of the best maps I have seen” Joyce Wilson, Literary Reviewer, Keswick Reminder.  12th December 2014

“A lovely planning map – attractive and useful” Mark Richards,  author of the Fellranger Guides.

Dedication by Peter Knowles:

"This map is dedicated to Eric Knowles, my father, who dragged me up my first Lake District Fell when I was a whinging young lad: thank you Dad for persevering and somehow that Lake District magic rubbed off – however it did take a while, some fifty years, for me to climb all the 214 “Wainwright Fells”!

I have my Dad’s 1925 Ordnance Survey Tourist Map of the Lake District on my desk as I write this – a much loved map, covered in pencil tracings where he had planned and marked off his walks – hence the idea for this modern planning map. Our design team hope that you like the map and we welcome your comments and suggestions for improving the next edition."

Here's an interview that Peter did for one of the local newspapers (photo courtesy of the Herald).
