Pocket Mountains Guide Book: West Highlands
By Nick Williams
Across Loch Linnhe from Fort William is the gateway to one of Scotlands most remote regions, the West Highlands, where youll find the Rough Bounds of Knoydart, Mallaig and the silver sands of Morar, the ridges of Kintail, the ancient forests of Glen Affric and the high peaks west of Loch Ness.
From the hills above historic Glenfinnan and Ladhar Bheinn in Britains last mainland wilderness to the Shiel Ridge from the Cluanie Inn and the Five Sisters over Glen Shiel, what all of these routes share is a sense of wilderness adventure.
